Having a major meltdown re payslips

Got a meeting with a mortgage advisor in the morning and just realised my payslips are not officially payslips.

I work for the family business as the only employee so my dad uses the HMRC paye basic tools software, he has been giving me a 2 page breakdown of my earnings and tax deductions etc printed from this software but a quick Google has shown me this software doesn't produce payslips, now I'm in major oanic mode that they aren't going to be accepted as proof of my income.

He seems to think I'm worrying over nothing ?!?!

Take what you have to the broker. Explain it to him/her.
Its the brokers job to fnd a lender who will accept you - that includes your payslips as they are.

It MAY prevent you from using all lenders (I say may as I do not know the answer), however I do know some lenders will just write to the companies accountant for a reference.

  • Out of curiosity, how long have you worked for the family business?

Tell your dad to get to get a proper payroll software - I can recommend BrightPay which is hugely competent, free for up to 3 employees, near idiot proof and will comply with his RTI obligations (which are a legal requirement for PAYE employers).

Make sure any catch up payslips match actual payments (bank statements) and Bob's your Auntie's live in lover !!

Worked here for 8 years now.

He is not very computer literate (he can just manage to use the software he has now) and he doesn't trust downloading software not from HMRC and nor will he internet bank so I'm still being paid by cheque. I feel like today is just a waste of time.
