And just to reply to this specifically, if it wasn't for the fact that too many people try to get benefits that isn't intended for them, then the DWP certainly wouldn't bother to throw so much money is having to pick out the genuine from the none. Of course, in the case of CA, it is not a benefit for the disabled anyway.

and too many posters on the forum feel it is their personal responsibility to decide who they consider to be deserving

And I guess I am the one who should be ashamed for receiving too much help.

Talk about being self righteous. I bet every time you speak a halo shines from your head and doves sing to the tune of your voice.
i never said you receive too much ... YOU said it.
im not arguing with you because you have already stated that you enjoy the attention.

just get off your soapbox and stop speaking for your 'disabled brothers and sisters' because as far as i can tell, they would much rather you didnt

That statement says it all. Self righteous to the core.

Your repeated singling out of nannytone is becoming very tedious. If you can't be civilised please take your toys and play elsewhere.

its only because he/she likes to make a big deal of being a psychopath... as if everyone should run away in terror.
i pointed out that it is merely a personality trait that they share with many successful and respected people.
doesn't have the impact they wished for any more ;)

I'm delighted to say that I'm currently planning my son's eighteenth birthday - after being given four hours to live (at age five hours) and undergoing four major operations a just before the four hours was up, I think his 18th birthday is a real achievement :D

You and me both...not that youngest will have any kind of celebration for it though.

I too have almost lost him several times over the years and even now, every minor cold that goes round gives me the heebies as it is just as dangerous now as it was when he was small.

He's currently on the maximum dosage of his meds (and extra ones added in) as he has developed a cold courtesy of his brothers coming home from uni bringing their uni colds with them, so it is high alert for the next couple of weeks and next to no sleep. It is never a gradual slide, his condition can go from being fine one hour and needing to be in intensive care the next, so vigilence is the key.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I'm sure she will...just as soon as her blindness is cured. :)

I'm just sick of people trying to down play my own disability. If people can't handle it don't spout it.

Oh, Sue, I hope he's better soon. My lad is like yours, susceptible to colds and infections. I've spent so many hours with him at the doctor or in the hospital - I used to keep a 'Grab and Go' bag by the front door. Luckily, he has improved in recent years, after Alder Hey finally agreed to him taking long term antibiotics. The difference has been great - he still gets chest infections, but less frequently and less severely.

He loves a party though (the complete opposite to my younger son). For his birthday, he has asked for goldfish, and he wants to name them after characters on Coronation Street :D

You must be the first psychopath who cares what people think.

This is why it is such a scam!

That is why I get so annoyed with the "Just got DLA/PIP/ESA what else can I get" posts. You have just been awarded a good some of money and you want more.

Please live some crumbs for the workers of this country.

What about the time your wife quit her job to move with you, and you wanted her to claim JSA.
