Shortlisted but not won - gutted :(

My hubby received a call from heart FM on New Years Eve to say we'd been shortlisted to win a holiday and might get a call on Monday or Tuesday.


We spent all weekend trying not to think about it (impossible!!) and waited patiently for a call yesterday and this morning but nothing happened.


I'm more gutted about the fact they told us we were shortlisted, I'd rather have not known!! Surely it would be better to just contact the actual winner that morning in advance and if that person misses the call then ring someone else?


I honestly would much prefer to just see an email that says I've won than be told yes you're in with a great chance, we loved your photo so please be available incase we call you - then not bother!!


Sounds like sour grapes I know, but it's not about not winning it's just the way they do it.....

I wonder if they do that so that the potential winner is definitely waiting for a phone call to go on air? You could see that would be good from their point of view.
But I feel really sorry for you, that is going to be really horrible for anyone shortlisted. I hope you win something really great to make up for your disappointment!

It is a horrible feeling, I had a similar one before Christmas ( I did win however) but it was all I could think about for 3 days and just sat staring at my phone!

I don't know how I would cope being on edge for days and then disappointed! Needless to say that it is very sucky. Big hugs.

Generally it will be set out in the T&C's and if they are going "almost" live on air they have several potential winners lined up ready to call (sure I have seen it where up to 10 alternatives maybe called before the prize might be withdrawn/redrawn - cannot remember which station it was).

Puts me off entering as I wouldn't like going on air even worse to have several days to stew about it, winner or not.
