Congratulations to you and your fianc!e weeclick!
I got married last year and also had just over 2 years from getting engaged to W day and it's a very good time frame. I did find that when we got to the last 6 months I just wanted to get the planning over and done with and just do it, but it's better to have plenty of time than try and cram it all in.
Once you get the venue sorted you'll be able to get more specifics pinned down.
We tried to do it on a budget, but it was still quite a big budget in the end.
We split our wedding over 2 days. So we had the ceremony and wedding breakfast on the Thursday (which also saved us loads of money) and on the Friday evening we had the reception at our local rugby club, which we catered ourlselves.
We didn't hire a DJ but spent about £100 on downloading music onto our tablets and played the music through some speakers at the venue. It was a nice low key party and actually no-one really danced but that suited us.
My MIL did the wedding favours, and the table centre flowers to match the bouquets we got from the florist. We had a family friend with a keen interest in photography to be our photographer - I know you said you'd be picky about the photos so this might not be suitable for you.
My mum is very crafty and she made some bunting to decorate the venues.
I stayed at the hotel the night before with my MOH and obviously stayed the night too so we didn't have to book any wedding cars.
I go my wedding shoes from BHS for £35! I've still got them. They were just so comfy!
I hope this has helped and isn't just a trip down memory lane for me. Oh! Pinterest could become your best friend! There are so many ideas and so much inspiration on there. It's an amazing tool!
Anyway, congratulations again :j:j:j0
