Closing Catalogue Account - Impact on Warranty?

Hi

I have finally paid off Littlewoods and wish to close the account.:j But a couple of months ago I bought a microwave from them using my reward points that I had accrued as I was a blinking good customer(insert idiot if you like). So I technically have not paid for it, though one could argue I have paid for it as I would not have accrued the points had I not shopped and paid the massive bills.

Anyway, my question is if the microwave goes on the blink within the 12 month period, will I still be able to have it repaired or replaced by Littlewoods under the warranty even though the account is closed?

Also need to add that I do not have the original statement but I am sure I can print one off from my online account to keep safe in case it is needed. Would this be acceptable do you think?

Many thanks
Rosy

Yes of course, closing your account won't have any bearing on your statutory rights.

As Sourcrates rightly says, closing your Littlewoods account will not void any rights you have under warranty.

What I would do, whilst you still have online access to your account, is print off or save as PDFs your account statement(s) which relate to any items you have which are covered by warranty. It's also useful to have evidence of purchase should you ever need to make an insurance claim against your home insurance, e.g. accidental damage/fire etc. For that reason alone it's worth saving the receipts for things. I tend to either save them as PDFs from online accounts or email receipts, or if purchased in shops I scan in receipts and am also able to keep copies of those electronically. Saves having to have a file/folder somewhere in the house with all those bits of paper.
