I need a job...

I graduated in June 2014, with a 2:1, and no luck with graduate positions. (I need an internship but try finding a paid one that doesn't only take current students)
Anyway, I'm looking for anything I can do now just to get out and to pay the bills... but aside from retail jobs, what can I apply for, what jobs are out there?! I've experience in a hospital lab and enjoy that but there aren't many positions about at the moment. Help me with ideas to type into jobsites!

Surely you select your area and look at all vacancies? It doesn't sound like you are in a position to be selective. Which sites are you using?0

Could you not go back back to hospital lab work? What is your degree in? At least you're at an advantage with having a degree. Try to keep looking forward as something will come soon.0

I've applied for a few, and the last two interviews I had were positive in that I was second choice... but not very helpful when there's only one position! (Sorry if this replies wrong, not used the site before!) Er, my degree is in fashion but it's SO hard to get into, I realise my lab work isn't relevant to it haha!0 -

yes of course, I'm using dozens of job sites, but trawl through over 1000 results on each site when I don't even know what most of the job titles are?...0 -
Have you considered working in the care industry? There are plenty of job opportunities there.Overactively underachieving for almost half a century0

So why take a degree in this area? It's has a wide remit - what path were you planning to follow?
What steps did you take whilst undertaking your studies to lay groundwork for your move to the workplace... work placements, part time working, networking, volunteering at museums, studios, fashion houses etc? Portfolio development?
You can't just assume that you are a marketable commodity just because you managed a 2:1 - this does not make you in any way unique - what do YOU have to offer and what have YOU done to set yourself above the rest?:hello:0 -

I didn't know at age 17 what I wanted to be doing for the rest of my life funnily enough, I just kept narrowing down my options in subjects til I ended up at that point. After finishing the course, I know I'd like to do pattern cutting, but there are few positions available and most of the ones that do come up are senior placements with even 'Junior' positions requiring 2 years experience.
I took a work placement while at university at the end of my second year, as part of the course, but time was limited as it wasn't a year out; just a project before the summer break (in which I was working in a lab for money to pay for my final year) and so was money, at £100 a week to travel into London to work for free, I couldn't do it for very long.
I never said having a degree made me special, and this post was asking for ideas about what ELSE to apply for while I decide what to do about my career long term.0 -

My university was awful with careers unfortunately
. We had a work placement project at the end of second year, but were left to find something alone (which is hard when you have no idea about the industry) and that was the last anyone spoke of career help for us! And our library/uni online log-in was disabled before we even graduated! Easy to see what should have been done differently in hindsight. 0 -

What sort of positions would be available? As I don't have any qualifications in healthcare..0
