What would you do if you were forgotten off the list?

Hi,
Just curious to see how some of the guys/girls on here would deal with this.
Tomorrow my employer has a staff training day at an external location which is outside of the normal office environment.
Today the agenda/plans for the day have been communicated out to staff, and my name has not been included in any of the groups for the day. The email was sent by the HR manager.

This is the second time I have been forgotten of such emails, it was only about 3-4 months ago, when I was forgotten of an organisation chart. I did ask HR manager why I wasn't included on it and they said that they forgot, and even asked two people for final checking.

I feel that I shouldn't have to remind them again that I have been forgotten off the list.

Should I not go to prove a point??

Not attending would simply get managers back up rather than proving a point.

Are you supposed to be at the event, if so attend.

Of course you know. That is why you are complaining about it here. Instead of where you should be complaining - with your manager. It may be annoying, but in the great scheme of things, forgetting to pay you would be much worse.

How many people are on the list? If I was missed out of 5 people then it would bother me but if 500 then not so much.

If I was you would be asking my manager to confirm I am not expected to attend

I was the only person forgotten off the list which is why it bothered me, as it is the same as last time, where I was forgotten off the company org chart. Once is OK, twice is a !!!! take.

I'd start looking for a new job.

E-mail HR, CC'd to your manager, saying that you cannot find your name in any of the groups and ask which groups you are supposed to be in or, if you are not expected to attend, when you will be given the training.

I would add to the e-mail something such as "As you may remember, my name was left out of the organisation chaart which was sent round in October (or whenever it was). As my name appears to have ben left out a second time I wonder whether you could check your records to see whether my name is missing from your staff list, and if so, to update that, to prevent this happening again"

It sounds to me as though they are probably working from a master list and that you are missing from that, so whenever they draw up something new you are left out.

No - forgetting to pay you is a !!!! take. All this is is an HR department who aren't very on the ball. Something that isn't exactly uncommon.

You are overreacting and making a small issue into a major one. How hard is it to mention it to your manager? How difficult would it be to say that you aren't sure why your name isn't on the invite list? Making this into a bigger issue than it is may not be wise - you don't want a reputation for being a diva over the smallest thing, or nobody will be listening to you when you have something more important to say.

Speak to HR, politely remind them you have been missed of the email. If you haven't been missed and not required to attend, stay in the office. A 3 minute conversation will clear things up.

Only point you will prove is that you lack communication skills?
