Back on the Wagon....

Please forgive me collective, for I have sinned! When I left you (a few years ago!), I had almost conquered £60K of debt (ex-hubby kindly left me with - long story - another time maybe!). I had managed to start a little savings account, paid off all 'those' debts and was just clearing down the last £2k of my credit card. Was feeling very chuffed with myself and on top of everything. Then I was made redundant and that, my virtual collective, was the start of my falling from the wagon
I started my own business (little shop/boutique type thing) with my redundancy, I have no savings left and have racked up my credit cards to the tune of £15K and am teetering of the edge of my £2K overdraft. The shop is 'ticking over' as they say but, obviously, a bit more 'tick' than 'tock' would be nice
I have now had my second lightbulb moment, caught up on my books, done a new budget and am climbing back on the wagon hanging my head in shame
I have learned that you always need to keep an eye on what you are doing - even if you think that its all OK! It can so easily get out of control again very quickly, and its a long climb back - even if you haven't fallen far (depending on where your 'far' is - it is different for everyone!)
I need to keep to, or under £40/pw for food for pretty much 3 adults (myself & 2x grown up children). This also has to put fuel in my car every week, so £25 for food. I have been looking back at the thrift forum, have joined other money saving groups via facebook and am hoping that now I have fessed up and said it out loud, it will motivate me to hang on in there all over again.
Thank-you all for still being here.

Hi Nutty Tart!
Well done for what you have achieved so far, it cant have been easy clearing that debt and venturing into unknown lands with a new business! I salute you!
I know what you mean about food, its bloody expensive!
This week, I have planned our meals for the whole week, (2 adults, 1 child) and then made a list of what I needed. Popped to Aldi, got everything on my list which included 2x diced chicken, diced beef, mince, loads of salad, fruit and veg and it cost £37. Thought wahoo get in, just a tiny top up shop in Asda and im done. This then cost £20 so im no better off now and wish I had amended my meal plan to fit with Aldi.
However, on the plus side, diesel is currently at 99.7p at Asda so that's great as I do a lot of miles for work.
Would definitely suggest budgeting and planning meals which saves loads of money and wastage.
Keep motivated and don't be too hard on yourself!June 2015 - LBM and Debt Total £9000
Jan 2016 Debt Total - £7415
Total amount saved for mortgage deposit £10/£12,0000
