What can you do with a dehydrator

I'm curious about buying a dehydrator, basically for one recipe that I'd like to make (egg-free meringues).
Given that I don't know if that will work, what other things can you do with a dehydrator. I used to like eating dried bananas. They weren't thoroughly dried, just thick and chewy. I also like fruit leather snacks. Can these be done in a dehydrator?
What other things can be made? I know about Beef Jerky, but am a vegetarian so that isn't useful to me (but may be for others).

If you google dehydrator recipes, an awful lot of sites with recipes come up.

We have one (an Excalibur model). It hasn't seen that much use recently, but hopefully we'll get back into the habit. Aubergines work well, and can then be used for various things - in recipes, as a substitute for bread for a snack... Fruit leathers are rather nice too. Strawberries and raspberries also good. More liquid things like fruit leathers need silicone sheets as they would just pour through the holes in the standard plastic shelves.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

Raw foodists use dehydrator as it preserves food's nutrient profile, including all so important living enzymes.
Anything can be dehydrated: sliced fruit, sliced courgettes, kale (kale chips is 'in' amongst health conscious people) and so on...
There is a wonderful onion bread made of ground nuts and thinly sliced onions. The mixture is spread on a tray and dehydrated. It is like crisps but really nutritious (and incredibly delicious).
Dehydrator clearly contributes to healthier body and mind!0 -
I've also have the black Excalibur 9-tray model, and whilst I had loads of enthusiasm some years ago with my foraged fruits, and allotment gluts, I gave up. I used to make fruit leathers too with apple, blackberry (or with apple with pear/or plum) and cinnamon (pureed, pipped and skinned) and spread onto my sheets and dry for about 8 hrs+ also. They were really good. It's worth it if you want to have an alternative to shop-bought sweets which is full of sugar and preservatives. The dehydration concentrates the flavours and the natural sweetness, therefore omitting the use of added sugar. There's also a recipe book that came with the appliance, but you may find samples online, so that you have an idea what uses it has.0

They're very expensive aren't they dehydrators.
I'm here by myself and i've got my FridgeFreezer and another Freezer so don't know whether i could warrant spending a lot. I thought of it last Summer when i had loads of stuff from the garden.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
