MBN* cc charges/interest

Hi,
My issue is when I got into financial difficulty in repaying debts I had a real bad experience with MBN* who gave me such a hard time on the phone before and after I sent in an income & expenditure form; basically saying things like why am I paying for my children to go on school trips and getting their hair cut and why am I paying so and so so much and not them - i was totally out of my depth and had no idea at the time of the help i could have received.
To cut a long story short they charged me lots of interest and charges which made my debt even higher. I remember asking them could they kindly stop charging me as I was struggling to pay the minimum payments and they were getting me deeper into debt but they didnt. I even asked if they would refer me to a debt collection agency just so the charges would stop, but they didnt for ages. I dont know what I agreed to... It was so long ago I cant remember exactly as so much was going on at the time (around 2006).
They eventually sold on the debt to a debt collection agency after it seemed a very long time - and it may have been passed on but now the debt is charged against the house.
My issue is that I feel the charges etc that put my debt up seem unfair to me and I dont know whether to take it on the chin as a result of my bad decisions/management or whether there is anything I can do.
I recently received a letter from a bank saying they charged me interest when they shouldnt have so this brought up my issue again that is in the back of my mind regarding MBNA which I hate to think about as it was such a bad time.
Any advice appreciated.

Hi,
Your route to recourse, is as follows.
A written complaint to MBNA detailing your concerns.
If they reject your complaint, you have the option of taking your complaint to the financial ombudsman service, who will decide it on the balance of fairness to both sides.
There is a well worn path to follow if you have a complaint about any uk financial institution.

thanks Sourcrates,
I do appreciate your help...
I'm not really sure where to begin with compiling a complaint - do I keep it short basically saying something similar to my previous post?0 -
Yes, written complaint, detailing your concerns.
Go into as much detail as you can, but keep it concise.
Just tell them your concerns, that there actions did not help your situation.
Be sure to mark your letter "COMPLAINT".
