You brought me into this world, and that made you obligated to provide the best for me, until eternity, despite that I come across as ungrateful.
Just as I will always be there for my kids and will do whatever it takes to get them through life, because I am responsible for their existence.
Really ?
As a child and a teenager I certainly didn't appreciate my parents as I didn't realize what they did for me - but once I became an adult I was grateful I had such great parents who did stuff for me not because they felt obligated but because they loved me. When my Mum could no longer cope with living alone through ill health - I didn't feel obligated to look after her - I felt it was the least I could do as she had done so much for me and actually wanted to !
Plenty of parents think that once a kid has started work/gone to uni that they are adult and no longer their responsibility.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

It makes me quite sad to see all the posts from people whose parents gave them life, but that's it...
I was one of the lucky ones, in that my parents gave me a pretty faultless childhood. Mum in particular devoted herself to my sister and I for 20+ years. She wasn't/isn't the best cook, but everything was filling and nutritious. She never really worked during our childhoods, apart from a one-day-a-week job she had when we were teenagers, so her life was us. She was always around to come on school trips, attend assemblies, ferry us to after-school clubs, and never, ever compained.
Dad was the same, he always worked hard to pay for everything and always had time to horse around with us, or teach us some daft game!
They were, and still are, pretty great.

We were not that close when I was growing up. I actually think they were not very good parents.
However, since I've had my own children they have done loads to help me. They have collected them from school at sometimes very short notice. I can ring them and its very rare they say no.
They also let us stay there for 6 months when we had an extension built. As I was an only child, it was a bit of shock to them how noisy three boys can be and they struggled with this at first. But by the end they didn't want us to leave and kept making excuses as to why we should stay another week. In the end, we had to sneak back to our own home when they were out.0
