2016, time to pull yourself together Olivia

Morning all and a Happy New Year!

I think this is my third diary but I can't seem to find either of them.

A bit about me: 25, Receptionist, in debt :o

I'm not really sure where to start with this now..

  • A few days ago after realising I had nothing 10 days after payday I decided to try and sort myself out.

On oayday I received a bill from Virgin M (Not sure if I can mention them) for £123.17 which is HUGE compared to the normal £60 we pay, I called them, got nowhere and just accepted it. When I realised I had no money I thought 'There must be a way' so I emailed their CEO complaining that calls were made from my landline number when A) We were all at work B) We don't actually have a working phone plugged into the landline C) They were all calls made to companies no one had reason to call.

Long story short...I got a £88 credited back to my account, £80 for the free tablet I was promised in August and a £12.50 reduction on my bill because the internet in my area is being worked on between now and April which means it will be slow (Nice surprise there!)

The same day I also spoke to o2 about changing my tariff because my data always runs out which leads me to buy more and then my bill ends up quite high. (These silly things that I think are harmless have such a huge impact in the long run!) In November I had issues adding data, when my bill came it was £170  I spoke to someone on their live chat while I was changing my tariff and she offered to credit my account £40 for unused data :j

This morning I cancelled my Graze box, I was only receiving them fortnightly but I realised I don't look forward to them or get excited when they come and they cost me a staggering £90.96 a year which definitely could be put to good use elsewhere.

I've been keeping a spending log on my phone (putting that notes app to good use now!) just to see where all money goes, I get paid on the 22nd this month so I'm quite excited to sit down on the 21st and see where I spent most and can make changes and also create a budget for the first time in my life so I'm more in control of my money.
