Having your dog microchipped is one of the best ways to increase your pet's chances of getting home. Unlike dog tags and collars, which can fall off or be removed, microchipping is a more permanent form of identifying your dog. But don't forget the law says all dogs must wear a collar and tag, with their owners name, address and telephone number on it.
Your dog can be chipped by your vet or Dogs Trust currently offers FREE microchipping across the country, find out where http://www.chipmydog.org.uk/have-your-dog-chipped-for-free/

Thanks Sarah. There is currently no legal requirement for vets to scan for microchips so many lost or stolen pets are never reunited with their rightful owners. For some reason government are only enforcing one end of the spectrum: that the pet must be chipped. Which is completely pointless unless vets are legally required to scan for microchips as well. There is a current petition to Parliament about this:

Please sign everyone. Some pets have been put to sleep because they were not scanned and assumed to belong to no-one. This is a totally avoidable tragedy.0 -

All your post has achieved is advertising another site? If I had got the info from that site I would of thanked the username on that site as I have always done on here so not really sure of your point?I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know.
