  • Hello, can I join please? I know it's a bit late to the party. I have a hubby who is a huge hoarder and comes from a family of hoarders. We are hoping to travel in a few years so it would save money from putting things into storage.

    Any tips would be welcome.

Welcome! It's never too late to realise the clutter can't continue. I get the hoarder part, I come from a family of hoarders and so is my bf. It doesn't matter how fast or slow you go with it, just be played with what you choose to move on. Good luck!

    Hi!
My tip would be to just do a little tiny bit, decluttering gets its own momentum really quickly. Start at the level of clearing your pens that don't work out of your pen jar, or checking the expiry dates on just one shelf of food. It will take off, and before you know it you'll be going to and from the charity shop as if you are on elastic!
I didn't list mine, but I really wish I had!
You have a clear and healthy reason for tackling it though.
Keep posting, let us know how you do. :)
A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks

Hi tighteningthebelt, this is a really good tip. I have been putting the odd things into a charity bag as I see them. It was hard to start at first.

Thank you everyone for the welcome!! :A
