Xmas/BY week blocked, or is it?

The week between Xmas and NY is blocked - ie we cannot book it off. Though can book Christmas Day and Boxing Day (if not on a Sat) off if they fall on our days in.
So, how come some colleagues can book the entire week off year, after year? It's unfair.

Ask your bosses
No one here can have a clue.
Your employer can tell you when you can and cannot take holidays.0 -
Isn't this the same gripe you posted last year?0

This is something only your line manager / hr can answer.
Perhaps their holidays are restricted at other times of the year (our salesmen can't have time off in March & September for example) and a lot of them haven't been in this week.0 -

So what are you going to do then?
Hope you do get a bonus or some reward at least Scarlet
If you don't take all holidays during the year, then would that help the cause? As this happened to us no holidays allowed Nov and Dec then it dawned on the bosses they did not want to be paying untaken holidays AND working hours with it quiet so this week with a few hours notice Tuesday we were asked to go on holiday.0 -
Susannah and David are both sleeping with your boss, Robert knows about Susannah and has threatened to tell the boss's wife, Angela buys the boss a bottle of this favourite 21yr-aged malt whisky each year, Rupert's son plays in the same football team as the boss's middle son, the boss knows that Eric knows that the boss habitually fiddles travel expenses.ScarletMarble wrote: »The week between Xmas and NY is blocked - ie we cannot book it off. Life is rarely fair.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
What do you do for a job?
Lots of businesses still have to run over the Christmas period, which means they won't be able to give everyone the time off over Christmas.
For example, retail. Christmas is a very busy time of the year for that industry, so running on a skeleton staff would be very foolish.0 -
Is there a reason why they have the time off?
We're not allowed holidays in December unless its exceptional circumstances.
I got the time off a few years ago as my parents moved to France and I wanted to spend Christmas with them.0
