Returning 'custom' items.

I'm sorry if this is a silly question but I'm struggling to find an answer.
I've ordered a pair of skates from an online store which offers custom versions of standard models, allowing customers to choose their own colours.
As part of the sale a single pair of 'custom' skates were offered; pre-customised in unique colours (and the only pair in my size!). I don't envisage any problems but just in case I change my mind for any reason, would I be able to return them? I can't get in touch with the store and their returns policy just states that they don't accept returns of custom items. I'm not sure whether these particular skates would count as 'custom' in this sense as I haven't personally asked for any customisation, and I'm assuming they were made for someone else at some point or used for display purposes, and as they're an old model they've decided to sell them at a reduced price.
If I did want to return them for any reason, would I be within my rights to do so?
Apologies if I haven't explained this very well. Thanks in advance for any help

As far as the legal position is concerned you should be able to return the item as it is not personalised or made to your specification.
However I would check with them before ordering. If their view is they would not accept their return then do you really want to be in the position of having to enforce you legal rights? It could involve some effort, and ultimately you may need to take them to court (and you could still lose e.g. if you made a procedural mistake e.g. got the company name wrong).0 -
Thanks naedanger

I've placed the order already since these are literally the last pair I can find in the UK in my size! I don't imagine I'll have any issues but I just wanted to clarify so I knew if it would be worth asking if I did need to send them back. Thankfully the second hand market for these is pretty good so I could easily sell them on for what I've paid anyway, it would obviously just be much easier to return them to the store!
Thanks for your help
