Current landlady popping round this morning with gas boiler man. Only took two minutes to empty the airing cupboard and not too long for the rest of the house (as long as you ignore the spare bedroom being full of already packed boxes).

I told DH that any boxes unpacked after a year in the new rental will be chucked as I'm not having loads of junk in my first bought house - this time next year hopefully!

I have very few clothes these days. All of this process has taught me the best shape clothes for me and the best colours (i am a warm autumn, which is rare apparently, so i suit the golds, navy, dark green, creams - but not brown, strangely). Though i do wear white shirts and t shirts.

Working at home so much means i end up with a kind of uniform - jeans, long sleeve t shirt and hoody (i snaffle the kids' old school hoodies from trips they've taken. They have their names on the back so no good for the chazzer and the kids don't want them. The one I am wearing has the school logo on the front and 'spock' on the back :rotfl:). If i go out I change into something smarter, which means i do wear things for days at a time - I have no idea how many as it is in batches of hours. So i do a sniff test or just think "this has been on the go for a bit, I'll sling it in the wash".

As i was putting some stuff away just now i thought 'you've probably enough clothes for a bit', which is great as i loathe shopping. DD has donated me all her socks as they are too small for her to wear comfortably - she is a size 9 shoe and ladies socks don't tend to go that big. She has taken to wearing men's.

I am nursing a lovely purple yellow (so my autumnal colours then :rotfl:) bruise on my jaw from some dental work earlier in the week - that can kondo itself pronto, I have a family wedding next weekend. I did buy some new shoes to add to my M&S sale dress i bought last year and charity shop jacket :o I have some shoes but they are rather high so later in the evening I will change into these flat ones I've bought. I buy nearly all my shoes from TK Maxximus so they were very reasonable.

Off to clean the office - I need to move back in as working in the kitchen does clutter it up quicker. But i will keep drifting back to there and i am not sure why....

I don't really work in my office either VJsmum. As a result stuff gets dumped in there and left. I think its because its small and dark. I tend to work in the dining room (east facing) in the morning and the sitting room (west) in the afternoon.

I think I need to at least get the room sorted out and into the habit of putting everything back in there at the end of the working day. MIght cut my working hours a bit too...

still waiting for the planter before I can go out, trouble is that I just bought two cromwell books by Hilary Mantel, they were rock bottom cheap on amazon and I have no qualms, cheaper than magazines and will be passed on

I never work in my office/study either, it is on the north side, I work on the south side at my dining table. However since kondo, it is pleasant to enter these days. The magic touch came from a simple rug, multi coloured small sqares in exactly the right cheery colours subscribed in feng shui. I moved it from another room and it was like a light came on

I have lots of furniture in my office, 2 1/2 walls of bookcases, shallow cupboards and drawers, all matching and I can use a mechanical carder in there for combining fibres, either for spinning or felting. Basically it is a craft and paperwork store room but one I quite like to enter now, whereas I used to dislike going in there as it felt disjointed and reminded me of all the filing I still had to do. Kondo has sorted it, for now

Mine is north facing too - could that be it? It looks out onto the close and the main road however, (we are no. 1 of our close) so it is easier to see people from it.

I have cleaned it - it didn't need tidying. :T THere was a time when it would take half a day to get round it all... This time took around 10 minutes. I have moved back in. So let's see if I can keep it that way..

Edit: - I am pondering this further. The dining part of the kitchen is also north facing... though the 'kitchen' part faces south. In the kitchen / diner i sit with my back to the wall facing the door, but in the office i sit with my back to the door.... The office is 2m long and 4.5m wide, the desk is 1.5 m, so it pretty much has to have its back to the door looking out of the window... One short wall has the radiator on it, the other has a set of shelving, though that is neat and tidy (these days).

I think I am going to be Kondoing my laptop. It is guaranteed for 3 years from Jl and should be on a piece of elastic as it has been back to them so often. Cost a fortune ( well for me it was) waiting in for collection waiting and more waiting and the last time they lost it and that added another 2 weeks. So that is the end of that hassle. I am typing this on a tiny little mini cheapie thingie and am just going to stick with this. Taking some getting use to the little keyboard tho.
As for clothes from M&s I use to always find a few things I liked in the classic range but they have shifted them in my local and you can see the range as you walk to the escalator. Yuk the colours are horrible. Who does beige orange and lime green when they have blue eyes and grey hair. As for the quality the trousers are bobbled before they even get washed for the first time.
Was helping at a good as new sale for 3 days this week and the clothes and shoes that sold were all oldies from a few years ago the stuff from M&S Primar? ets were left. Says it all really. Maybe the stores need us in to design their styles and colours.

if you get rid of any pc or laptop then you need to destroy the hard drive by taking it out and bashing it very hard or by using a very strong magnet. Deleting stuff will not destroy data. I spent ages with a screwdriver last time, levered the HD out and used a lump hammer on it while on a gravel bed. Then I drowned it too. DS who is in charge of IT in a bank says that getting rid of data permanently is the biggest challenge they deal with at times. I would never re-cycle my HD

The rug in my n facing room is a small one but is this make and this colour. It was like when we put clothes on and they do something good for the face, make it glow and look younger

Quite pleased - had another trip to the tip.

Garden rubbish (lots), ash, plastic bags (old ripped, etc), and a very old office chair which no-one wanted.

Will have lots of visitors next week and just wanted the stuff out the way.

Another charity bag filled with (over 50!!) DH pants- now too big. And am thinking about other clothes of mine that had been 'put aside to see if I need them'. As you say all old, but good fabric, and cannot seem to get replacements.

I once took a pair of DDs school shoes back as they'd fallen apart after 2 weeks to be told that she wasn't "supposed to walk in them".

    I kid you not....

    That is just dumb.

I wasn't impressed when the engineer told me my washer dryer wasn't suitable for a family of 6 (usually 5, as DD is at uni) on one visit (6th vistit in a year for an 18month old WD from JLewis) Another engineer told me (when fixing a problem with the dryer, which I use infrequently, preferring the smell and feel of line dried clothes) that it wasn't made to be used as little as I used it and I should use the dryer function more often.....

Still not as bad as decorative shoes though!

The talk about M&S resonated with me as I have kondo'd more time than I wanted to this week taking stuff back to M&S. I bought a pair of navy jeans Per Una which were amazingly comfortable. So bought another pair same size, same style should have been identical. They were at least a size smaller!

Serves me right for falling off the Not Buying Any Clothes in 2017 waggon!
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
