Shout out to all the gardeners / allotmenteers gardeners world had an interesting piece on no dig gardening was very thought provoking, and very in line with my style of gardening!!
A few years ago after a few glasses of the wild stuff my sisters and I , came up with the idea that when we get old we will all sell up and buy a place together, and the children can take it in turns coming to see us, and hooking us up to our wine drips:beer:
It got crazier the more we drunk, but honestly wasn't too crazy in the grand scheme of things.
No great kondoing here I'm in maintenance mode and enjoying it. Thinking ahead to my holiday our 1st cruise, :T and I'm in a bit of panic over clothes, I have a set of holiday clothes and it usually gets packed no bother, but I'm worrying over what I need weather wise to do the sightseeing in. And the need to take more than a pair of fit flops for my feet!Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
Oceanspirit - I have two ladies of my aquaintance who inspire me. One is now 91 and was still sailing her little dinghy at 88. The other is now 83 who has been a mentor to me while learning to sail. Both of them are always so interested in everything around them and have a real zest for life. That's the way I hope to be.
DH has rekindled his interest in motorbikes and converted his Honda to a trike ( many older riders to not have the strength in their later years to hold the big heavy bikes up) it's his baby and gets him out and about with like-minded people of all ages and he gets every encouragement to from me ( even when he wears leather chaps lol)
You do your thing g Oceanspirit - it's your life and we only get one shot and nobody gets out alive!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Yes,yes, yes! Oceanspirit, Silvasava etc. That's one of the reasons i love being in my 50's! I don't give a hoot what people think about my lifestyle, my clothes, or my flask of coffee :rotfl:I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0

:D:p Hear, hear!
One of the greatest joys of aging, one which my younger self had no inkling of, is that frankly, my dear, I just don't give a damn!
I was on a walking holiday with a group of middle-aged-to-elderly ladies and we were assembling in a cafe beforehand, chatting away happily. Two young lads also in the cafe were clearly mocking us to each other (I don't speak much Greek but facial expressions, body language and tone don't require translation).
They were young enough to be the grandsons/ sons of women present and were so delightfully naive that they imagined that we gave a hoot for their opinions. Bless!:rotfl:
Righty, am about to head out for the evening for a riotous assembly of the [STRIKE]coven[/STRIKE] err book group, I meant the book group. If you hear a lot of laughing women, it may well be us.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

We have not had rain here for 7 weeks and almost every day has been breezy and sunny, I am now expecting a huge slug population when we get the bit of rain forecast over the next two days. I ordered slug nematodes, had them once before and they did a grand job for two seasons. The nematodes are to make my alloment life easier but I will have to prep today. Watering and covering the empty raised beds, the nematodes need moisture and buying them and not enabling them to work is a waste of money. I don`t dig btw, havent done at any time since 1990. I make compost, quick with a hotbin and comfrey, lay it on top and that is it. Its a fine balance between having slugs do the compost digesting and eating my seedlings. The compost is heaving with worms which digest and take the compost down
I vacuumed and washed all downstairs last night and again it was so quick and satisfying, not much to move after kondo. I used a new vileda rotating mop for the first time, blimey heck it was good. I bought the bucket kit direct from vileda, it is such a good design, the best system I have ever had. I am thinking I might kondo my karcher steam cleaner and all its bits. It was far quicker and less faff with the mop, considering that my floor is pale rough stone. I do have a small hand held steamer upstairs for the showers, I would keep that. I only ever did the floors with the karcher but the new mop is better0 -
We have a Vax steam mop which - doesn't. Steam, I mean. So I looked up your rotating mop on Amazon and I'm very tempted. We have a tiled kitchen floor and the grouting gets very grubby. Do you think it would do a decent job on that, Kittie? It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Kittie, Do the nematodes hurt the worms? I am looking to have a raised bed.0
-
Floss - it was on the Sony channel on cable so don't know if you could get it on catch up
Juliettet - no worms are harmed in the application of nematodesSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
