KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

  • At DD's only paired socks go in drawers so if I find any odd socks they go in the washing basket even if they are clean, on the basis that they just might be reunited with their other half and live happily ever after...

No idea if it works but it stops them lurking oddly and untidily in strange places.

2 m&s mattress covers gone on Fr**cycle today - old and worn so gone as pet bedding - person who picked them up has a dog which has just had 8 puppies!

  • Took the c/shop bag to one in an area where many shops have recently closed. This one is closing too, but only briefly for a building repair.

It was really good. Loud music, crowded shop, atmosphere buzzing, nearly everything being sold off for £1. Just like these places used to be. Got 3 DVDs for £1, so I will watch those, then they can go with the Ziffit lot, so they will have only cost me 11p each to watch. Bargain.

My donations were out on the shelf before I left and other people were bringing in stuff and they weren't turning anything away. Better than the over-priced one I donated to last week.

I store odd socks in the ironing basket if they lose friends or make it through the was solo, they eventually find a friend. If still friendless after about 6 months I have a cull.

    :) Evening all.

Have been flying around the city like a demented wasp on the old pushbike after work. Did a fast foray onto the lottie for runner beans and salad leaves and then took two bags (one lot of rags, one of the good stuff) to the chazzer then flitted back home. The antelope mound of Stuff is slowly decreasing.

Isn't it amazing how you have to make an ungodly mess in order to actually make anything better eventually?

There is plenty which I could be doing tonight but, once I've eaten supper, I shall do very little and enjoy every minute of it.

    Ello lovelies,

I had a different kind of woo today -t'ai chi in the wu style. I enjoyed it, will probably keep going :) I bought a few suitable clothes, and wasn't tempted by anything else. Will be walking to a pub quiz later so have been gently tidying

I'll get the hang of this pacing lark yet ;) I did nap earlier :rotfl:

Dragonette, well done. What a great day and it's not over yet :)

Working today and had a really random collection of jobs for my clients. I had such fun! I removed a kitchen worktop to clean a neglected corner, planted pansies, carried a 50 litre bag of compost from car to rear garden (who knew I was that strong?!), made marmalade, made lunch, vacced, went food shopping, repaired a kitchen table, hung washing, pruned shrubs and delivered a birthday card. oh, I also did some extreme window cleaning which involved much stretching and an aching arm.

As for Kondo-ing, I have put away the small stock of washing liquid in the supplies cupboard (got some half price and it should do me until the end of the year). I rooted out 2 more tops for sil's carboot sale. I have also written another to-do list, aiming to finish 'clothes, the re-run' by the weekend! I was so pleased with progress last Fri and Sat, I want to keep up the impetus.

I sowed the seed with DH, that maybe, just maybe, he would take a little look at his clothes to see what, if anything, can be released. He did not dismiss the idea out of hand, so I am a bit optomistic again.

I saw the daily mail article about sock matching and I it made me laugh because that's how I've always done it :D:T:rotfl:

Good heavens, thats a big day, MMF :)

I'm plodding on with putting the house to rights - thats getting to be quite a repetitive post :o but at least I'm going to be able to get rid of *everything* from the counselling room next Tuesday, that will be a huge relief. So today, more shredding :)

Worry not Karmacat I left Birkenhead when I was 6 as my mum and dad moved to n. Wales. Ribbed mercilessly for my scouse accent so it's mellowed to Lancs now I think. Still can't Kondo my flat vowels! Why would I want to, they spark endless joy! Perfect for teaching synthetic phonics;)
Siebrie good luck with the party plans. I remember those days so well, trying to work with children around. Be kind to yourself, we just try to do too much:(

I worked in Birkenhead (Berrrrkened) for 5 years. Being originally from the south east our accents were decidedly different. One day for some reason i was counting out loud and said ".... twenty eight, twenty nine, therty" - boy did they jump on me

"you said therty, you said therty"
    "Nah i didn't - i said furty" :rotfl:

Still the odd word creeps in, even though I haven't lived up there for 20 years "werk" "nesh"

Today is the 1st of september (you knew that, of course). Last september i did a "min's game" and got rid of four hundred and odd things. For the uninitiated Min's game is getting rid of 1 thing on the 1st of the month, 2 on the 2nd, 3 on the 3rd etc.

So I am going to do it again. I am going to start off with photos and things, but i think I will run out of things. but certainly i think I can find four hundred odd photos to get rid of (either physical or digital). Thinking about it, I expect i can get rid of four hundred odd bits of paper so i will do that when i run out of 'things'. (paperwork and photos are my last major category).

(of all the things i got rid of last year, the only thing that we have missed is two cables for cameras, cost to replace was about £30. Hubby still hasn't noticed that the brandy glasses went ;):rotfl:)

Day 1 then = 1 useless lip balm and 1 photo of a famous person who is very much in the distance and no-one else would know he was there. :rotfl:
I wanna be in the room where it happens
