This isn't my first foray into the world of MSE. I've been here before. I've been a member for 7 years, but I have constantly failed at achieving the Debt Free Status I so crave. Despite a good start last year, we are actually finishing the year £5k deeper in debt than we started. (In my defence, I spent a week in hospital, followed by 10 weeks off work, which pretty much marked the end of my money saving. Depression and overeating took its toll and has pretty much dogged the latter half of the year. I've not been making the best decisions)
So, with 2016 knocking on the door, and having just completed the financial forecast for January, the lightbulb has lit again and I'm as determined as ever to get it right this time. This time, I'm making a complete fresh start. I've abandoned my old account. I've learnt from the mistakes she made, but I am a new determined Money Saver and I want a fresh start.
I have my OH's buy in, but she always agrees to start with. However, this time I have the figures to show her. I've gone through last years snowball and demonstrated that we have effectively added another 12 months to it,. We would be halfway through had we stuck to it. It's now been confined to the bin and a new one placed where we can all see it. A constant reminder of what we can achieve.
Now everything is going on hold until tomorrow. Once I get her payslip, and can confirm her take home for this month, I can plan properly and get the budgets done. New Year's Day is going to involve a lot of discussion and sacrifice for us both! But it's all for a better and brighter future.
Have a prosperous 2016, fellow Savers.

Happy New Year!
Today is the day that we are starting our new regime. This time, we will succeed...
That being said, we have had quite a lazy start. We have been eating leftovers, so have had a spend free year so far. The majority of the day has been spent watching movies and vegging out, watching movies.
The other half has just taken the dogs out, so I'm going to spend a little time re familiarising myself with MSE forums, exploring the new YNAB and outlining a plan for the future. Tomorrow will be family meeting day, and implementing some changes...0 -
