Spend £5 or more (Monday to Friday) which can include a take-away hot drink and newspaper - and if you have a Waitrose card, they take off the price of the paper and drink.....
So you could only have to pay about £2.
Selected papers only though - like Mail, Telegraph, Time, Guardian/Observer.
Not the Express, Sun, Star, Mirror etc..
On Sat/Sun you have to spend £10+ to get the free paper - but again, the £10 can include a hot drink plus paper - which are that much more expensive at the weekend anyway.

Unfortunately we have to scan our card at customer services to get our cup for our free drink so cannot include it.So it is not always possible.

Could you try adding the coffee at the self service till (doesn't need to be scanned) and see if it comes off when you scan your waitrose card.

Also, I think if you buy items that reduce at the till (3 for 2 etc.,) the newspaper offer works on the total price before the deduction.

No! The chap I spoke to just said I wasn't signed up to receive any offers or vouchers and he changed my options over the phone. Worth a call, perhaps? You need the 'My Waitrose' option

Just to update on this, I called Waitrose and they said that if you have ever ticked the 'do not contact me' box then you won't get vouchers, even if you have later unticked it and resaved your details. Apparently this information does not get updated on their system if you change it online, and you need to call to get them to manually change it. I'm still not convinced that I ever ticked this box (as I did get vouchers once or twice when I first got my card, but then they suddenly stopped) but I asked them to update my details and we'll see if it helps!

Thank you for this information. So basically, you'll get free newspaper and money off the shopping which will be the cost of newspaper?

The Taylor's of Harrogate lazy Sunday ground coffee is half price at £1.74 per pack and it is one of our picks so we got a further 35p off making it only £1.39 per pack! :j
  • I tried the spinach today and it worked. So 3 packs of spinach for £ 2.10, usually £1.50 each.

Just to clarify - spent £5 today and got a free newspaper. No money off the shopping as it claims. I think they should make it clear.

The money off the shopping is equal to the value of the paper, so it is just a free paper. I'm not sure why they worded it as money off before, I think its just the way their till calculates it.
  • Like others, I've taken advantage of marrying 'My Picks' with the half price offers and saved myself a fair amount of money on stuff I can store.

The current half price offer ends on the 25th (or 26th), so get your goodies in before they go up in price.

For those who don't get the email from Waitrose, you can now change your 'My Pick' offers, too.

Didn't think to look at my picks!
I got some Comfort 42 wash and Cirio chopped tomatoes.

Funnily enough, I bought some Ben and Jerry's Cookie Dough which is a Pick (but not one of mine) and it took the 20% off on top of the Half Price Offer on Thursday. I went back today to get some other bits and that flavour was sold out. (I did have a Pick which was no longer available)

A lot of offers are not showing online anymore, you need to go instore to find the others. (e.g no search found for Cirio Chopped Tomatoes).
