So the time has come to have a go at clearing some debt. We are a family of four inc 2 boys (14 and 8) we have a big holiday planned in summer which needs to be paid for (flights sorted) but debt needs shifting first.

I'm thinking drastic measures but don't know where to start!

Can anyone help?

Thanks guys!!

  • Hello :)

    Ideally,

1.Write out a statement of affairs - fancy way of saying incomings and outgoings. there is a link but I am on the old style forum so don't know it on the new style forum.

    2. Make a cup of tea

    3. List all your debts.

    4. Work out what your repayments are. Pay them.

    5. Live off what is left. (that is the tricky bit)

    6. Investigate 0% deals or low life of balance deals to see if you can save some money on the interest.

    7. Save money on things like shopping, bills, clothes, - Old style board, Challenges board for that.

    8. Ask lots of questions. This is the best place on the internet.

For number five I recommend reading the diaries here, look at the up your income board, look at the challenges board. I found the best way was to read a diary I liked and see what else they posted on and go from there.

    Post often
