    Another update:

I have found my symptoms reduced over the last couple of days by taking 15 drops of Vogels Centaurium 15 minutes before meals. It was recommended in my local independent health food shop, you have to hold it in your mouth before swallowing and it tastes very bitter. I googled it and some people have had immediate amazing results - I haven't, but I do think there is some improvement although I still have a sore throat first thing.

I had acupuncture for the first time today and am going again on Friday - will let you know if there is any further improvement after that. The Chinese doctor confirmed I am doing all the obvious things, although I should probably drink more water during the day (not in the evenings).

After that it is back to the Drs to see what else they can suggest. Best wishes to all other sufferers

    Update

I have now had 3 sessions of acupuncture. I do believe that my digestion and overall wellbeing have improved - but I have still been waking up with a sore throat. I now take the Centaurium only once a day and that seems to be sufficient - I do feel I am digesting things better now, but there is still reflux overnight. I saw ads for a different treatment over the weekend, silicol gel, so I have bought some of that and started taking it yesterday - too early to tell if it helps. I'm back at the Drs on Friday - to see if there is anything else they can do. I am not eating a whole range of things - will be starting to put them back in my diet soon to see if it makes any difference

I was reminded by seeing another thread that I hadn't updated this.

I had my blood pressure tablets changed to see if that made a difference to my acid reflux - it didn't

The acupuncture has increased my overall wellbeing but I don't think it had much effect on the acid reflux

For me, PPIs are a waste of time - no noticeable effect

Careful diet, eating early in the evening, small portions, avoiding certain foods, all helps

Silicol Gel has meant a major improvement in my symptoms. I found it through an advert in the press, and gave it a try - I now only take it twice a day, sometimes only once. It really does help the symptoms for me, I no longer wake with a sore throat. Some nights I also take Ranitidine (300mg) prescribed by the Dr, but only when I feel it necessary (through eating late etc)

Overall, reducing the symptoms has made me feel much better and happier (I was beginning to get a bit fed up and depressed)

    Hope this helps someone
