Err, it's not an accusation, we are not in court, it's just a hypothisys.
People lie on applications all the time.
Whenever you apply for credit, you have to fill in a few details, income, and source of income, are two of these details.
Any company who grants credit, were the customers only income is benefits deserves to get stung, benefits can be stopped at a moments notice.
I could be completely wrong, it's just a hunch, catalogues have a nasty habit of increasing credit limits after just a few on time payments, certainly not done her any favours by doing so.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. ..........just goes to show how stupid catalogues can be dosent it !!
These companies deserve all they get in my opinion.
Previous advice still stands, she should try and work out an affordable payment plan, preferably through stepchange.
If the account was opened prior to April 2007, she should do a CCA request to them as well.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. That was the reason for asking how long she had the account for.sourcrates wrote: »..........just goes to show how stupid catalogues can be dosent it !!

If it was pre-April 2007 I wouldn't go to Stepchange as they don't challenge debts using the CCA. In any case it's perfectly possible to set up a plan yourself without going to Stepchange, especially if you don't have other creditors.Big corporations take advantage of the unwary, it's time we learned how to deal with them:dance::dance::dance:Any comments are based on personal experience and interest in consumer matters, they do not constitute advice.0 -

I'm fully aware of that, and wasn't suggesting SC have anything to do with making CCA requests to any of her creditors.
If you read the thread again, you will see the OP's freind may be suffering from mental health issues, and may not be caperble of doing this on her own !!

Depression is very common and can range from feeling a little sad to having to be held in a padded room without anything you could use to top yourself. It's not uncommon for us ladies to indulge in a little retail therapy when feeling a bit down and I wouldn't call that mental health issues. Of course it could be much more serious than that, we don't have enough info to say one way or other.sourcrates wrote: »I'm fully aware of that, but if you'd read the thread properly, you would of seen the OP's freind may be suffering from mental health issues, and may not be caperble of doing this on her own !!

If she's struggling that much, and from what you've said I suspect she is, she may be better served by paying them £1 a month, eventually they will sell on the debt, shop direct group, who own very, can be difficult to deal with, and demand unaffordable payment plans.
Best to take control herself and just pay what she can afford.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Very will be viewing her as a profitable customer. She probably has already paid for the items 2-3 times over already and they won't care until she defaults. Its the business model of the catalogue industry.0

Might not be a bad idea if its done in writing.0
