Hypnotherapy

Rather than rely on Google, or Yellow pages, does anyone know if there's an organisation that represents Hypnotherapists?
I suffer with very low self-esteem, have done for over 30 years, tried counselling via GP over several years, didn't really help much.
This is hard to explain, but I live in fear, nothing in particular, I live in fear of fear, if that makes sense, I think this is a contribution to my low self-esteem, anyone else suffered with similar symptoms?
Whilst I accept I'll have to pay per session, it's clear to me, psychotic medication which I've been on for many years, together with previous counselling hasn't really had much of an impact, hence, why I'm considering hypnotherapy,

I have received it previously and were pleased with the results - mine was a registered therapist and they have had good reviews. So I was lucky to find one with good reputation, in my area. You can google and see if anything comes up in your area and then see their registery, education etc .ally.0

there's some organisations to use as a starting point, if you scan down the page. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I'm not sure whereabouts you are based, but if it's anywhere near the midlands I can recommend Christian Baker. He's treated a few people I know with good results and he's also helped a few high profile people too.
If nothing else, he has a comprehensive list of qualifications on his website which will give you something to search for in other therapists.Shrinking my mortgage!

The British Association of Clinical Hypnosis has a website which would be a good starting point. I am glad you are being careful about choosing a practitioner as there are some very dubious, ill-trained people around.
It might also be worth asking your GP next time you see him as they may well have knowledge of your local area - and do sometimes suggest hypnotherapy for patients, e.g. smokers etc.0 -

I saw him once on a detox retreat I went to - was good, I'd go to him again if I lived closer.
If money was no object I'd got to Marisa Peer - even her CDs are very good.0 -

Before you try a one to one session, have you tried using a self-hypnosis CD? For example, something like this (NB, haven't tried this but sounds relevant):-
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Overcome-Low-Self-Esteem-Hypnosis/dp/B00O8XA44C/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1451372964&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=low+self+esteem&psc=1
Or there are quite a few anxiety CDs which is what fear of fear sounds like - my mum suffers with generalised anxiety disorder and she seems afraid of everything, including imaginary fears most of the time.
I have had both 1-2-1 hypnosis and used CDs in the past (stress management mainly but also trying to lose weight) and I actually found the latter more useful, not to mention considerably cheaper. I think it might be because the people that make the CDs tend to be the most skilled therapists. Of course, what the therapist can give you is something more tailored to you so it depends if there are very specific triggers you want to work on.
To a certain extent, the success will depend upon things like how comfortable you feel with the therapist - I had a very negative experience with one man who was really rather creepy, or in the case of the CDs, whether you like the sound of their voice.
Good luck.0 -

Thanks for your input0 -
Did your counsellor also teach you CBT? I wonder whether it might be useful to you too.
Good luck!
