BR Tax code

Hello

Just a quick question, I have a main job with a 1060L tax code I don't earn anywhere near my personal allowance due to my hours and 39 weeks per year contract.

I took on a 2nd temporary job for 4 weeks, filled in the P46 and ticked box C which has put me on the BR tax code.

So my question is due to the 2nd job only been temporary and for such a short time how do I claim my tax back or do I have to wait till April? :(

Thanks

You need to wait for the p45 to be issued, then call HMRC and ask them to issue a tax code to your other employer including the pay and tax from the other job. Assuming you haven't underpaid at the main job and have spare tax allowances you should get a refund.

Do not hand P45 to main employer, keep it for your records.
