C-Chassis?

Decided to get a Playstation with Battlefront. Price-wise it appears pretty much the same price everywhere.... £249. So will get it from John Lewis because they offer a 2 year warranty.

Thing is after a little bit of research I note that there is a 'newer' Playstation denoted as "C-Chassis". I'm sure that JL don't sell that many PS 4's so might have older stock floating around. So, how can I tell from the box if its a newer C-Chassis or and older B-Chassis?
Thanks

The font of the 'C' PS4 is all matte where as the older version has a gloss section this is probably the best way to tell them apart.

I'm not sure if the box has the model number on but its CUH-12xx (CUH-1200) if it does.

The chances are John Lewis will have the same hardware packs as everyone else for that price - Battlefront was one of the games Sony had as a fixed pack. All the consoles in the "standard" Christmas fixed packs were C-chassis, I'm fairly certain that the "limited" Christmas fixed packs were the same. (Star Wars branded console, MGS branded console, Destiny branded console & CoD branded console)

From what I've seen too, the other easy way to tell at a glance which console it is would be to see if there's a handle on the box - the "new" models do not have a handle. Given the fact you're unlikely to see the console out & unlikely (unless you ask) to see a serial number, that's an "at a glance" check as well.

  • Just to quickly second the point - if this is one of the Sony bundles with Battlefront inside it (as opposed to a bundle the store has made themselves) then it will be one of the newer consoles.
  • Thanks all... JL didn't have a bundle on the shop floor so had to buy it and collect from the warehouse. I checked the box which did in fact have the model number on it and it was the latest version so happy days.

    Again thanks all!
