Hi, does anyone work for the nhs as a home care worker?

I am currently applying for this role although cant find any info on the hours of work and pay - Does anyone know if it is like the private sector and you only get paid per call? Also, do you work set shifts i.e. 8-2, 4-10 etc, and are split shifts involved? (I understand this will vary for different areas of the country, but any info would be useful)

I would imagine as it's the nhs, travelling time will be included as part of your working day, I would also imagine it will be band 2 level so have a look at the pay rates for that, you'd also get travelling expenses reimbursed.

I'm guessing it works the same was as community based posts for nurses and midwives in which case we get paid for the shift, mileage is either paid from your work base or your first call (or first call - distance from your home to work base)

Thanks a lot for responding. I was really hoping travel time would be paid, it will make such a big difference in comparison to the crazy hours I'm currently doing.
