child support when first child goes to university.

Has any one got any advice on maintenance payments/child support when a first child goes to university?
I have three children, two from first relationship. I have paid child support without a legal agreement using CSA calculator as a guide. I always have paid over the advised level so have never needed to go down legal route.
My eldest son is off to University in 18 months.
I am aware I will need to keep on paying csa or maintenance till he finishes full time education. However am unsure whether I should be paying him or his mother.
Is there a formula for when one child goes to university? Should I just carry on paying mother of oldest two same money till he finishes University?
How are student loans calculated for university etc? Both myself and oldest two children's mother earn £30000.

For CS the university student doesn't qualify, it is up to you and the mother if you wish to help them out.0

If you don't have a legal agreement drawn up then DUTR is right, its up to you and and the mother what amount is paid and who it is paid to. If the parents can't come to an agreement then either parent can apply to the courts and the court will make the decision for them.Overactively underachieving for almost half a century0

Once the child goes onto further education as far as the CSA is concerned your liability will end at the end of August before they go. It will then be your own choice to support your child directly through university, you no longer need to pay the PWC, if you choose to you can fund your child directly. This link might help regarding student loans. http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/students/student-loans-tuition-fees-changes
I don't think the PWC can apply to the court for maintenance whilst the child is in uni, I think it's up to the child to apply for that if they wish to do so.0 -
There is no legal requirement to continue paying child support once the child has left school/college, you son will be able to get a student grant/loan to support himself through uni and will be classed as an adult. My husband and I split up last year he pays maintenance for our 17 year old son but nothing for our 21 year old who is at uni. If you can and you want to that is great!0

Just a quick note to add that your son's student support, if the means tested route is chosen, will be based on his mother's income, as she is the resident parent, and that of her partner/spouse, if applicable.
I used to be Starrystarrynight on MSE, before a log in technical glitch!0 -

Not meaning to nit pick but it's higher education, not further where this is the case.0
