'This Is England', written and directed by Shane Meadows, is released on a DVD on 3 September and we, for one, are going to be at the front of the queue, waving our money at the nice man in DVD shop.
Not seen it? Think 'Quadrophenia' for the 21st century. The best British film since 'Trainspotting' some have said. And who are we to argue. Yup, it's that good.
For those of you, and surely there can't be many, who have missed out, 'This Is England' is the story of Shaun, an 11-year-old growing up in the north of England. Set during the summer holidays of 1983, it follows his rites of passage from a shaggy haired ruffian grieving the loss of his father into a shaven-headed thug whose anger and pain are embraced by the local skinhead fraternity.
The soundtrack is cracking too featuring The Specials, Soft Cell, Toots and The Maytells, Dexy's, The Upsetters and, erm, Strawberry Switchblade.
So anyway, to celebrate we are offering one lucky Nuts reader the chance to win a very special prize in the shape of a customised Epiphone Les Paul Special II guitar signed by the cast and crew of 'This Is England', not to mention FIVE copies of the DVD for lucky runners-uppers. It's quite a prize.
Question: Who hasn't appeared in a Shane Meadows fim?
Answer: Richard Attenborough
Good Luck
