BTL: Political Risk

http://www.theguardian.com/money/2015/dec/20/buy-to-let-ignore-landlord-martyrs-time-for-bank-to-act?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
The poor persecuted buy-to-let landlords of Britain. Many are developing a martyr complex – victims, they feel, of a barrage of new taxes coming in from next year. They will have seen the latest intervention last week – potential new powers for the Bank of England to restrict buy-to-let mortgages – as yet another blow. In online forums landlords share their woes about the “latest tax grab” and ask “why are we so reviled?” – although the answer may lie in another discussion thread where landlords swap tips about “How to tell a great tenant the rent has to go up a third”.

Osborne has also increased capital gains tax after Alistair Darling reduced it, is planting rumours about further limiting tax relief on pension contributions, and will soon have frozen the inheritance tax nil rate band for longer than any other period since the Second World War.

Is the man worse than any socialist for increasing stealth taxes on the comfortably well off?

It is a right pain when you read the title "BTL", then click to find it's a thread about BTL.

It's taken time and therapy, but I'm now at a stage where I can ignore the multitude of HPC playschool threads and no longer have to write "not another HPC thread" in crayons and chalk - all the while pretending I've just literally wet myself rolling around the floor laughing at other people having their own discussion on the internet.

Merry Christmas Michaels... wouldn't be the same without a jostle ;):)

But isn't this exactly the same article you linked to yesterday and the same story as another btl thread where the BBC said the same thing?

I didn't realise it was quite as serious as it appears to be. :undecided

    My bad.

The martyr landlord article is probably worthy of two threads though to be fair, and it is the season of giving.
