Help!!!

Hi all, I have never spoken about any personal problems before on this sort of thing! I am in alot of debt and its ruining my life. I have been really bad with money since I can remember and its now effecting everything I love including wether my other half of 8 years is going to stay with me. He is understandably upset, feels let down, cant trust me and has had enough. He is the sweetest, loving and able man but I just cant get myself out my hole. I am depressed and we have had a rocky relationship with other issues over the last 3 years including his health. We both feel like we have wasted our 8 years and could have been in an entirely different situation with a house, holidays etc...... I was self employed and as such I buried my head in the sand regarding money as I couldnt earn enough and just accepted and paid each overdue bill. I am in a 'proper' job now and in a worse situation!! Please any advice would be very much appreciated im so low and he is o the edge of walking away.

Hi hammy Try not to panic. You are definitely in the right place to get some good advice.

When you say you are in a worse situation, are you managing to pay your bills now at all?

    Do you live together?

    How much do you owe?
    SP 9#531=£620/SP 10 # 531=?PDBX 2016 #2 = £16,766.67/£12,000
    PDBX 2017 #2 = £1,200/£12,000

You sound so down..what is it you want help with the most? Budgeting? Sorting the interest rates out etc. If you can post more there are lots of helpful people here who can try and point you in the right direction.

    Hi Hammy

As MSE Martin :money: says, there's no debt situation that isn't solve able with time. I wasted 30 years in debt, and there's many things I wished I did differently now I look back, but you can't change the past, it's all about looking forward and making things better in the future.

Come and share with us what the real scale of the problems are, promise we won't be shocked (though you might be when you add it up), and well suggest what you can do to start changing.

Remember, if you keep doing things the same, you'll get the same result. Change one thing at a time, especially this time of year it's tempting to make massive changes that you can't stick to. Change one thing and when that works, change another etc etc.

If you go back to the DFW page (back one page) the fourth sticky with a green button next to it is about useful links. On there is something called a Statement of Affairs. I think you need to start with that and probably the support of a free debt support service. A lot of us start by filling in an SOA and then posting it on here for advice on what to cut.
