Robinson way EX morses letter

Hi, 1stly sorry if this in the wrong section but I have received a letter from Robinson way in my name for a debt of £97. HPH2 (ex morses)
Now I know for 100% certain I have never had a loan from morses club but I have had a provident loan in the past, approx 2003 but I am 99% certain that I paid it all off. Just wondering if Morses and provident are linked in some way?
I know my father had plenty of Morses loans and he passed away owing lots of different companies money, I have already had debts in my name that were his for British gas and Southern water as we share the same initials so all these companies come looking for me thinking I am him.
I have already phoned up Robinson way and told them the debt is not mine but what is weird is that the previous address they have on file for the debt is my old one and not my fathers. Like I say I can hand on heart say I have never ever had a morses loan.
Anyone know what I need to do to get them off my back if they keep on at me, the guy on the phone said he marked the file as contested or put a complaint against it but I'm guessing it wont be that easy.
Thanks

Hi
If they come back saying you owe them money you can write to them using a ‘prove it’ letter, basically disputing that you owe the debt and asking them to provide evidence that you owe it or leave you alone. If they keep asking you for payments without proving it’s your debt you can complain to them in writing and then to the Financial Ombudsman Service. There is a sample ‘prove it’ letter here:
www.nationaldebtline.org/EW/sampleletters/Pages/Complaining-to-debt-collection-agencies-that-you-do-not-owe-the-debt-(sole-name).aspx
Alternatively, it’s possible that the debt might be statute barred anyway if it’s old. If there has been 6 years with no payment (5 years if you live in Scotland), no written acknowledgement or court judgement the debt would be statute barred which means it’s unenforceable in court. If you inform a creditor that a debt is statute barred they have to either prove that it isn’t or cease collection.
There is more information on time limits for recovering debts and a sample letter to send to creditors here:
