Car finance 40/50% LTV

I have £2000 cash but was thinking about perhaps looking at cars around £4-5k and financing the gap. I don't have the best credit history although my debt is low and black marks are fairly historic, a bank loan wouldn't be an option for me I don't think. Is it best to go straight to a dealer? I'm in employment.

  • A 'money transfer' credit card might be an option? It's a card that specifically allows you to transfer cash to your bank account for a low fee and then repay at 0% over the term of the card

Hadnt heard of these. Is the criteria quite strict? I have a limit of 750 on my only credit card which has been increased for about 18 months so I assumed my rating wasn't great perhaps.
  • You can click through to the eligability checker from the link in my other post which will give you an idea of if you would get one. My credit history was still 'in recovery' when was offered the Virgin Card - MBNA also offered me a card but didn't offer a high enough limit to cover the cost of the car - if I remeber correctly though MBNA did a soft search first and based their offer on that so it meant I didn't have an extra search on file.
