Reclaim "secret commission "

Hi, i have been contacted by chafes solicitors regarding a secured loan i took out in 1998. They have said that theh are dealing with hundreds of claims against ge money for a secret commission that was paid by ge money to my broker which made ge money a preferred lender rather than being the best available lender for me at the time. Chafes wanted 35% no win no fee. I haggled them down to 20% on the offchance that there would be a claim.
I have received a letter stating that ge money have made an offer of £400 plus vat towards legal fees and £1100 including interest and compensation. Chafes have sent an agreement for me to sign, accepting the offer and agreeing to chafes getting their 20% plus the £400 + for their fees. Which means they are getting nearly half of the money paid out. Is that normal/right? They get 20% and the 400 plus vat? Seems a lot...
Please excus lack of punctuation and/or poor spelling, in bed ill
Thanks in advance for any help

Check the terms of the contract you unwisely signed.0

If you are not happy with the way the solicitors are treating you then you can complain to them and, if necessary, to the Legal Ombudsman - free of charge.0
