After a mess-up from Amazon I received the following email but I cant work out what I can use the blasted thing on!!
I've added something from Amazon basics (as a test) and there is no sign of the credit at check out.
Email starts:
However, as a one-tome exception, I've gone ahead and applied a £5 promotional credit to your Amazon account anyway, to be applied automatically next time you order something Amazon-sold on the website.
Promotional credit must be redeemed at our website, towards the purchase of products sold by Amazon. This promotional credit does not apply to orders placed with Marketplace Sellers, and it can’t be redeemed against Kindle books, delivery, gift cards or gift wrapping costs.
You can view the terms and conditions for promotional credit here:

Appreciate the reply.
Is there anyway to filter the results of what I can buy on Amazon especially as the credit is only for £5?
Have you any examples of what goods this is valid on please?0 -

Yes, search for what you want and then down the left hand side filter sold by Amazon.
Bear in mind that unless your order is over £20 you will have to pay delivery so may be worth waiting until you need something?
This for example is sold by Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Richardson-Sheffield-Sabatier-Trompette-Filleting/dp/B00D45RA24/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450780093&sr=8-1&keywords=filleting+knifeI’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Once again I appreciate the reply.
However I've gone all the way through Checkout for the item in your link and it still hasn't applied the £5 promotional credit.
i.e. a grand total of £18.36 with 'normal' Postage and packing.
Am having my doubts whether this £5 promotion has been applied to my account.0 -
Just to feedback Amazon hadn't applied this - after another couple of messages to and from Amazon the discount was automatically applied.
Thanks to sarah1972 for her guidance0 -
Glad you got it sorted in the end, Amazon live chat is usually good at sorting out errors which is good.
