Xbox pc dongle

Options
Hi all,

Thought I had a great deal when I saw an unofficial wireless dongle that would let me play my pc games on a controller.

Bit of an awkward set up at first but seemed to work well for a week, then my controller started to cut out. Changed the batteries the problems continued.

Now every time I use the trigger buttons on the controller, the controller itself powers off, leaving me scrambling around for the keyboard.

I'm back to PC controls for now, but really want this up and working again. Does anyone have any ideas?
The seller isn't being very helpful.

Have you tried another controller or wireless dongle?
That way you can rule out one or the other as the problem.

My guess is, if it's happening when you press the trigger on the controller, assuming that the light on the controller is going out completely and not going round (looking to pair with a receiver) that there is a dodgy connection or fault with the controller that is happening when you press the trigger buttons.
The reason I ask about the light is that the controller will try and search for the receiver for several minutes after it drops the connection, so if that light is going out it's the controller at fault.

How old is the controller roughly, how much use has it had and have you checked the batteries are seating correctly and the terminals are not corroded or loose.
it could be that the spring terminals are slightly worn and not holding the batteries in place properly thus when you press the triggers and move the controller the contact on the terminals may be dropping out.

I've been using an unofficial receiver for several years as the original one died on me and it turned out to be a common problem with the MS originals.

Try a different USB port on the computer - they have varying power outputs.

I'd a similar problem with a wireless dongle some years ago - worked for a little while then cut out - took us ages to work out the USB port did not have enough power to consistently power the dongle.
