That is very reassuring. Thank you.

We don't have any court orders for either maintenance or visitation but I can show a number of years worth of history where this has been normal practice.

This is the key bit, that you have evidence that you have been paying this over a period of time. Receipts and details of flights (e.g. etickets) should further strengthen your case.

Obviously, not every OR will be the same but the general consensus seems to be that most are very reasonable and will be sympathetic to any reasonable requests. Best of luck.

    Hi,
The Insolvency Service will scrutinise and may well 'try it on' to attempt an IPA. I would keep you child maintenance and outside UK visits just as they are - because you can evidence these.
The law requires that you be left with sufficient monies for your 'reasonable domestic needs' - (RDNs)
Your RDNs are different to my RDNs and different to everyone else's. Guidelines are guidelines, just that.
It is likely that it will be well in to the new year before any IPA is mentioned / discussed.
Just make sure all of your RDNs are accounted for, and if they do try an IPA then you can challenge it - you should get back on here if this happens.

  • Good luck anyway!
  • Thank you for your help and wishes all. I am officially BR!

Just waiting for the OR to call now. I understand the first call is just a quick 10-15 mins to confirm a few details and book either a meeting or telephone interview. Guessing that'll be in the New Year!

Quick update to this. Had my telephone interview with the OR today and it went much more smoothly than I dared hope. The OR was lovely, very understanding and non-judgemental. She understood the situation and was very helpful. In fact, she increased a lot of the allowances i'd put in my SOA to national average and let me keep things such as my mobile phone contract etc. The resulting effect was that the IPA we have agreed is a third of what I worried it was going to be.

I feel like I can finally move on & plan for the future and most importantly of all, BR and the IPA will not affect whether I can see my child which was my biggest fear.

I can't tell you how relieved I am; thank you for your advice all.

Do you mean increased from the figures you posted in your original posting on this thread? They really did look like reasonable figures.

Well done anyway. 343 days will go faster than you think.

Yep, increased those I posted originally. She felt I'd underestimated the additional costs associated to housekeeping/clothing etc when my child is here.
