Who's your favourite film villain of all time?

It's Christmas, so we're going to ditch our usual poll and have a bit of fun. Star Wars, now hitting the flicks, had a fearsome baddie in Darth Vader, but who is your favourite film villain?

Pennywise the Clown from IT. The only villain that ever scared the crap out of me.

I'm old so my vote is for James Mason as Phillip Vandamm in Hitchcock's North By Northwest. Smooth and cold as marble, a classic psychopath but well brought up!
  • What about Pete Postlethwaite's characterisation of the utterly hateful Sgt Obadiah Hakeswill in the Sharpe's Rifles series? Oh how we hated that man! Pete Postlethwaite acted everyone else - including Sean Bean - right off the screen. Brilliant!
  • Wot no 'Scarface'!? No Brando's portrayal of 'The Godfather', no cat stroking (...but, don't get me wrong - I love cats) 'Goldfinger'??? Or how about Lee Van Cleef's 'The Bad' from 'The Good, The Bad & The Ugly'?

Without the above villains, this poll is respectfully declared...
