Hi there, wondering if anyone can help me.

Whilst on a graduate scheme I did a professional qualification which the company paid for me. However, as I left the company they made me pay a contribution around 50% or less that amount to around 2 thousand pounds.

Thinking back, I wonder if I can re-claim tax on this? I was sorta of forced to pay for it, so I wonder i can claim tax on it.

No. The payment to the company was not made wholly, exclusively and necessarily in the performance of your duties, so you can't claim any tax relief on it.

Did you not simply sacrifice some of your final pay for this?

Yes, my final months salary was partially docked

So if you had no entitlement to the pay it was not paid at all, so you have not paid tax in the first place.
