Try John Lewis - although possibly wait until just after Christmas to see what's in their clearance.0 -
Yes, John Lewis. Their sale will start 5pm on Christmas Eve.0

I have these and they are superb. I have the steel.

Have a look at https://www.justlinen.co.uk and http://www.bedeckhome.com/
Both have got sales on just now.
Have used both in the past to get good quality cotton sheets and
am sure the Christie towels I bought were from Justlinen. Can't fault either of the websites, and both sheets and towels are still excellent. Bought them before we moved to Cyprus, so that's around 6 years ago now.

bedding - recommend looking for 400TC or over
Towel - recommend looking for egyptian cotton.
I usually go to TKmaxx or home sense to start with.0 -
Christy is now an Indian company, and sadly the quality of their towels is nothing like it was. I have Christy towels that belonged to my mother (decades old) and still in far better condition than those I bought a couple of years ago.
It is obvious that the newer ones are much thinner, the colours are faded and I'll be replacing these before my mother's.0 -

I agree, Christy towels are very poor now.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. That site is spectacularly badly named as I can't find a single product on there made of linen. It all seems to be cotton or polycotton. I like linen bedding.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

I don't think thread count is a great indicator of quality. It's like a few years ago when people chose a digital camera based purely on how many megapixels it had - so the manufacturers responded by making cameras with horrible lenses etc that took awful photos, but with loads of megapixels so that people would buy them.
Best thing to do IMO is look at and feel a range of different fabrics, get an idea for what you get for your money, and choose one that you like from those in your budget. And don't assume that a sheet from John Lewis and a sheet from some random website will be the same quality just because it has the same thread count.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
