Sorry if this is in the wrong section
My daughter went to buy some alcohol from tesco today she is 19 and got asked for ID ( fair enough )
My daughter uses her passport with a photo on to prove her age but the passport is out of date and because of this the shop wouldn't except this a form of ID??? How this alters my daughters age I'm not sure.
What do you guys no on this matter that could help me when contacting tesco do I have a case to contact them?
Many thanks in advance

For a start, your daughter is an adult. If she wants to take this up with Tesco then she takes it up, not you. You don't have a case to contact them - unless, I suppose, if you had asked her to get the alcohol for you, that she was simply your agent and you want to complain that you didn't get what you wanted.0 -

Calm down calm down!!!
Just wondering if the passport was a form of ID as it was out of date.
I'm a good parent I look after my kids.
Amazing how people can be so rude behind a screen.

And the other 1% have a chip on their shoulder
I know that financial companies won't accept an out of date passport for ID but that's for money laundering reasons not proof of age. Seems bizarre they won't accept it for proof of age, especially given her picture is on it. I can't help with you approaching Tesco about it but would be interested to see what they say.0 -
If she's 19 and has an out of date passport, how old was she when the passport was issued? If she was only a child she may not resemble the photo much by now.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

They can accept or not accept whatever they like to be honest. Perhaps store policy allows them to accept passports out of date, but if the cashier wasn't 100% certain about it they did the correct thing to refuse the sale.
Alcohol is one sale that the cashiers can get personally fined for, not just the shop, so if it were me I certainly wouldn't be taking any chances.0 -
Many thanks guys
As they say there's always one0
