Ebay sales tips?

Hi all
I have recently been offered a full time job  and I have been thinking of ways to top up my income as it will be minimum wage.

I am considering importing goods from probably China and selling on ebay and have looked on Terapeak for the top selling items (small electronics, mobile chargers etc)

I've used ebay for years and know my way around it but just wondered if there are any experienced sellers willing to offer any advice, tips etc to help me along the way such as knowing which suppliers are genuine?

I know I'm probably not to going to make big bucks although an additional £50 to £100 month would be nice.

There is a dedicated ebay board on MSE (see my signature) - but one tip is to avoid small electricals at all costs. An awful lot of the cheap electrical stuff Imported from China is badly made to the point of being dangerous and the first few complaints you get are likely to destroy your business. If you do go ahead then make sure your business insurance will cover any claims for damage.

No seller is going to give away the name of their supplier(s), they don't want any more competition
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

It is unlikely, as a small player, that you will be able to import directly from China. Can you afford to buy a 20ft container load? I used to buy stock from wholesalers in the Manchester area, who have an established link with their suppliers in China. It means there is a middle man, but you can still buy cheap from them.

Importing from the Far East is easy if you use one of the dedicated sites, no need for containers anymore. I buy small lots (not electricals) and DHL deliver after I pay them their handling fees and duty/tax etc due on arrival in the UK.
