is there an opportunity to become a director/partner in the long term?

Why is the current person leaving?
  • potentially.. the current person is leaving because he hasnt been made a partner in the 15 years that he has been there, that said, things will be changing in the medium term with partners etc coming up to retirement. I also believe that he is under the impression that the department is not of particular concern to them and they are more focused on other ones and thus, he got fed up, basically.

Is it going to be in any way detrimental to you if you apply for the position and are not successful? If not, what do you have to lose? :D

  • Perhaps the director believes the OP has enough intelligence that it doesn't need to be spelt out to them. By not taking the hint and not applying the OP may not be doing him/herself any favours.

Totally agree with this. Anyone who can't read between the lines might not be considered astute enough or confident enough.
