Employment Law

I need someone to check a daily simple contract that a client wants me to sign to provide software services to them. When I contacted a local solicitor they said they would charge £250 per hour to check them for me.
Is this a normal charge, am I just being naive thinking I can get advice for less money ?
Thanks

£250 sounds about right for solictor that knows what they are doing.
What bits are you concerned about.
Also it may not come under employment laws if it is a contract for services on a daily basis.0 -
If you are providing a service that would be self employment - it would be a contract for the provision of services, not a contract of employment.
£250 an hour is pretty average for a solicitors fee. Is there anything in the contract that you are concerned about?0 -

You should ensure advise is accountable, if it's also cheaper, fine but make sure it's accountable.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
I guess the only thing I am worried about is confirming I am going to deliver what they expect and what if they feel it hasn't been delivered !
We have an excellent relationship but people change when things ago wrong..I don't want them in 6 months time to come all guns a blazing for £1m damages even though the software I am developing is only going to cost them £15k0 -
I have literally (about 2 mins ago!) paid our company solicitor £350 plus VAT for looking over a contract for us - £250 seems good - even more so if it includes VAT0
