Hi,
I feel my mortgage brooker is acting very slow, can i ring the lender direct for information / update (Nationwide) if so does anybody have there number?

Nationwide are acting 'very' slowly not your broker.
It takes 15 minutes just to get through on the phone currently - 5 working days (a week) for any action.
On no account should any borrower using a broker contact the Lender direct. That is how problems happen.I am a Mortgage Broker

Nationwide are a complete mess at the moment - we had 4 'wheels off' cases with them at the beginning off the week, all escalated on Monday and only one made any real progress so far and I am making the BDMs life a misery over these, with little impact.

My current mortgage application is in, my broker has told me that calling the lender wouldn't give me the correct information as I would only get to speak with the customer service desk who don't have up to date information.
So think they might have access to higher up employees with more information.
Just keep in contact with your broker

The problem is that you say something that is misunderstood and then the Lender asks for something that is not necessary, or closes the case.
We have had this happy where the client assured the Lender in her conversation that she was buying a freehold flat (she wasn't).

The mortgage process is often longer than you would like, however try to be patient.
It's not in your broker's best interests to have your case going on longer than necessary so I'm sure they're on it.
