MAP refused, help please.

Hi, I applied for bankruptcy through map, I received a letter today saying that it was refused on the basis that my childcare costs have reduced by £20 p/w since I signed the statement of truth giving me an excess income of £60p/m and that I need to go through the full bankruptcy procedure.

This is true, but my tax credits did not reduce until 4 weeks later as they do a 'run on'.

I have sent a letter back today saying that my tax credits have also now reduced and included the new tax credit award notice, bank statements etc to show this.

Do you know if they will accept this, or do I need to apply again from the beginning?

    Hi

I’m afraid I don’t know the policy on this so I suggest contacting the AIB enquiry line to get an answer sooner so that you can get things moving. You may need to complete a new SOA with an ‘approved person’.

The AIB contact details are here:

  • Thanks, I had 21 days to respond to them, so I wrote a letter apologising and that it was a small amount I wrongly didn't think it would make a difference and provided tax credit award, further bank statements etc and asked if they would still consider MAP.
I handed it all in to them last week (I live nearby) and haven't heard anything yet so fingers crossed!
  • Well they won't accept my drop in tax credits as it happened after I signed the statement of truth and they have assessed my excess income at over £100.
I can't get through to step change at the moment to see what my options are.
I think I will need to go through full bankruptcy but don't know how to get the DCO changed as I think my excess is only £20 p/m if they take the change in tax credits into account.
