That would be one way of putting it - talk more than charm. A lot of what you have said here is negative - you don't have the mind set to go to university, aren't the caring sort... The people I know who have good careers without degrees or good careers without following the normal path know what they are good at and can explain how their experience and hobbies mean they would be an asset to whoever they are trying to persuade employ them.
