PV installed. How to get FIT?

Hi all
Have just had 4kw system installed this week but not yet registered with either mcs or my energy company. I am going to my sisters for xmas tomorrow and am worried about missing the fit 1st Jan. Is it just the mcs registration that needs doing before or both have to be done before 1st Jan?

    I've just done mine.
From memory you need the ofgem registration form from your electricity supplier. You fill that out and attach a paid invoice, mcs registration, epc certificate and a photo of your generation meter.
The form is long winded and requires lots of numbers from other documents. I would start now if I were you.

  • I sat with my installer who did most of the work for me. Can you ask you installer to support you?

I didn't go with them in the end but scottish Power needed this info:

    ScottishPower account number
 MCS certificate (unless ROO-FIT Accredited)
     EPC certificate
 Make, model and serial number of your generation meter
 If you are submitting this form by email, you will need a meter reading for today
 Your import MPAN (you will find this on your electricity bill)
     Your bank details
 Proof of purchase of the generating system for the property on which the system is located
 If you are not supplied by ScottshPower, please provide a copy of your current passport, driving license or a valid firearms
    licence, and proof of address
 If you are applying in respect of a Community or School Installation, a copy of the pre-registration letter from Ofgem
 If you are applying on behalf of a non-domestic installation (which is not a Community or School Installation), a copy of your
certificate of incorporation and proof of the address of the body you are applying on behalf of (i.e a utility bill, other than a
mobile phone bill, a bank statement or a council tax bill, which is less than 6 months old on the date you submit this application
    form)

The company I went with required much the same.

As indeed did I - just before I wrote his cheque :D

That might give the impression that I was holding him to ransom though in fact we had (still have) a very amicable relationship. But others may not be quite so fortunate and in particular some installers might well lose interest in 'customer service' as soon as they get the dosh.

You need an MCS certificate before you can even apply. Didn't your installer give you that?

The application must be received by the electricity company before you can claim the FIT. They don't have to have processed it, just received it. So the form needs to be in their in-tray before the FIT goes down.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

I am with E.On. Their FIT team are excellent and will talk the form through with you on the phone. You can download it from their website, complete it, sign it, scan it and email everything to them. The form has a list of what to include. I assume all energy providers will be similar.
