New Phillips Sonicare Electric Toothbrush Heads.

Hi,
I have just bought a Phillips electric toothbrush (Sonicare HX6511) and although it does a really great job, new heads are pretty pricey at around £5.00 each.
I have just been looking at Amazon for generic replacements and there are very mixed reviews.
I was just wondering whether I should stick with Phillips branded replacements and, if so, where can I get the best prices for them?

I've never understood why people would pay over the odds for a branded toothbrush and then then buy generic rubbish heads for it when that's the most important part of the device.
I usually just keep an eye out for sales and stock up accordingly, but I don't even think £5 a head is that unreasonable in the scheme of things.0 -
I agree with the last poster, why pay a lot for the toothbrush but risk possibly buying fake brushes. We usually wait until Boots or Superdrug have an offer, a third or half off.0

I buy from Amazon on Subscribe and Save for my Philips Sonic Heads, this can save a little money. Oh and no I would not buy fake or generic heads.0

Smart move because you can buy the diamond clean heads that will fit your model. They are meant to be the best brushes for your teeth. Buying a diamond clean brush would cost you a lot more, but the base and charger are the same functionally.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Definitely agree with silvercar on the brush heads. I bought a diamondclean brush (on sale!) which I love, and switched to the interdental brushes for a while because my problems are usually gum related and thought this might help. It's still great but there is definitely a difference - with the diamond brush my teeth always felt like they do after leaving the dentist, so I'll be switching back again after this pack runs out.
Sonicare combined with a Waterpik has kept me out of the hygienists chair for a few years now, and I wouldn't buy anything else.0 -
Thanks so much for all that - much appreciated.
I am going to buy the official brushes only, as suggested, and look out for occasional deals on Superdrug, Boots etc? I am also going to use Diamondclean heads as recommended.
Thanks also for mentioning the Waterpik - might have a look at that too.
One other quick thing:
Is there any difference between the black and white Diamondclean range?

Doesn't seem logical that the black or cheaper just because of the colour.0 -
As far as I'm aware the only difference is the colour (Philips website suggests no difference). Perhaps Boots are just struggling to shift the 'unpopular' colours - I know my mum got a pink toothbrush really cheap from there when the white/black versions were still full price.
The only downside of Sonicare compared to Oral B is the lack of coloured rings to easily identify who's brush belongs to who (they do have little symbols on but it's not easy to see) - since they released more colours in the range we now use black and white coloured brush heads to tell them apart0 -
Boots usually do a bogof on these just after new year. Stock-up then.0
